Answers to Q&A
Why did you want to become a model?
I’ve always had a massive interest in the world of fashion and photography. I used to make dresses out of towels and bed sheets. I’d strut around the house like the girls I watched on TV and make my mom take pictures of me. I think that’s where it started. I just love becoming what I’m wearing and playing into it. Using my human form to make a garment or photo alive. Conveying emotion with style and beauty. I love it so much. I also really love meeting people and connecting with others, modelling has allowed me to do that in ways I didn't know I could.
What makes you special?
I’d say my ability to be fluid and have fun in front of a camera or just in life. I'm not afraid to look weird or silly. I invite it and embrace it. It’s hard to just let go with a camera pointing at you so I pride myself in my ability to do so. I used to be a very timid person so I’m proud of myself for working on my confidence and now being able to be whoever I need to be on camera. Also the ability of being able to thrive behind the camera, making friends with the people I get to work with, bringing people smiles and laughs.
What are you passionate about?
Everything that has to do with music and fashion. I grew up with a band touring dad and a wardrobe stylist mom. I was surrounded by it since I was small. Those two are like the only things that I could spend hours being immersed in and creating. Playing my guitar, drawing, sewing, curating soundtracks, and creating outfits. It brings me a lot of joy. Those things let me express myself in ways that I can’t otherwise.
Describe your dream photoshoot.
I’ve thought about this a lot. I love the look of photos that express dark ethereal rawness. Like something inspired by a Sofia Coppola film or the movie Blade Runner. A shoot with emphasis on colour, feeling, and lighting. If I had to choose a photographer I’d definitely choose Jack Bridgland. I love the way he uses his models and colour. Maybe even styled in Miu Miu or Issey Miyake. That would be beyond cool to me.
If you could give an aspiring model any advice, what would it be?
Get out of your head and into your body! Thats the biggest thing that has helped me. Be in the moment and breathe. Move and speak with confidence and don’t overthink it. Also patience, it’s so important to understand that not everything with modelling comes at once. If you’re dedicated, work hard, and advocate for yourself, opportunities will come. Be persistent and have fun with it!
