Answers to Q&A
What inspired you to become a model?
To be honest there has been this sort of glamour attached to being a model ever since the supermodel era of the 90s. I mean, most young girls out there dream of traveling the world and wearing glamorous clothing as a job. I'm not any different, I love playing dress up! With that being said, I do like absolutely every aspect of creating something beautiful with fashion. Not only modelling, but styling, photography and design. It’s all so interesting and each requires an amount of dedication and skill. I recently graduated from fashion school with a diploma of fashion design… as I wanted to understand the fundamentals of my job as a model. It’s so interesting seeing the difference of perspectives in both roles. I was discovered when my friend sent my picture to my mother agent, and at the time I was living in a completely different world. I was living in a small town in a trailer park by a river, and I don't even think I had a proper phone. I mean I loved it, it was charming.
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
Probably getting my makeup done. Makeup is very beautiful, and it's nice to get my face dolled up by people who know exactly what to do. That’s something that I’m not particularly good at so when a makeup artist dolls me up.. IT FEELS SO GLAMOROUS! I usually have an alter ego come out when I get out of the makeup chair (haha). Experimental design and styling is so fun to play around with. It’s awesome when everyone comes together and is willing to create something new cohesively.
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
No one is short of success, no matter how slow or discouraging it feels in the moment. There is plenty of success to go around, and every model's journey is unique to them!
