Answers to Q&A
Why did you want to become a model?
I’ve always had a strong creative spirit, even as a child. Playing dress-up, putting together outfits, and embracing theatricality were some of my favourite ways to express myself. Modelling allows me to channel that creativity in a professional setting. Being on set gives me the opportunity to connect with people and get to know them. In order to capture the perfect shot, there needs to be a sense of trust and collaboration within the team. Modeling demands vulnerability, it’s this openness that makes the experience interesting.
What makes you special?
This is a tough question for me to answer. I could mention my humour, kindness, depth, and resilience, but my friends are likely to have a better perspective. They’d say my humour is off-the-wall and adds a lively touch to our interactions. They describe my kindness as thoughtfully attentive, since I nurture close connections. I’m the kind of friend that will go to a house gathering with a cake and force everyone to have at least a bite. I often overthink everything, searching for meaning in the most trivial things. I put myself in overwhelming situations trying to help others while navigating through the instability of the modeling industry. As for resilience, I’m too stubborn to give up.
Ultimately, what makes someone special is for others to determine—whether it’s a fleeting connection or lasting relationships. For me, I’m a curious suburban Québécoise eager to explore the world.
what are you passionate about?
I’m all over the place with my interests—art, sports, music, traveling, cooking, sociology, etc. I know I haven’t nailed down one thing yet, but exploring all these different areas is fun for now. On a daily basis, what truly captivates me is connecting with people. My mom is a psychologist, so I grew up in a home where emotions and empathy were important, which I further explored through my yoga practice. Since a young age, my dad and I would connect through music and talking about social issues. Both parents raised me to be aware of my surroundings and caring of the environment around me.
In Montreal, I volunteer with Comm-Un, where I support unhoused Indigenous individuals through art and self-esteem projects. This experience has deepened my understanding of societal challenges and fuelled my commitment to making a tangible impact. I may not have mastered one thing yet that stands out as my main passion, but I view this time in my life as an opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to my community.
If you could give an aspiring model any advice, what would it be?
If I could give advice to an aspiring model I would have two things to say:
1) Finish school and/or gain life experience outside of modelling. Modelling can’t be your only personality trait. Sharpening your critical thinking and building mental strength is crucial. There are some great people in this industry, but also a lot who aren’t. If you’re not careful, it can prey on your insecurities and become overwhelming.
2) Be more interested in others than in yourself. When you're in the makeup chair, put down your phone and engage with the artist or stylist—understand their perspective. Build a relationship with the photographer during your shoot. Modelling is a people-centered business that thrives on teamwork, not just individual effort. Try to avoid the self-centered mindset that this industry can easily foster.
When you are not modelling, what do you do on your day off?
On a perfect day where I time managed perfectly I’d check off all these boxes: working out, creativity, socializing, productivity, and fun at night. I recently started a new routine, hopefully this one stays. At the moment I'm based in Milan. I start my morning with coffee and practice my Italian before doing my sport—pilates, yoga, jump rope or run. After that, I spend personal time working on my own things (journal, read, edit, practice my ukulele, clean, etc), either at home or I go to the library if I want to be really productive. Later, I meet my friends for a late lunch or a coffee. Then I either dive back into my personal time or I do an activity with my friends (walk around, go to the museum, watch a movie, etc). Later at night, we all gather and go out for drinks. My go to is either a glass of red wine or a dirty martini. And then we see where the night takes us (hopefully a live music venue where we can chat, or dance).
