Mother Agency (MA): B&M Models

Answers to Q&A

Why did you want to become a model?

Growing up, there weren’t many people that looked like me in mainstream media and I always found myself feeling out of place from the lack of representation. I was so determined to be a model at a young age so that other POC kids like myself would have more people like us being seen. Especially as a mixed POC (I am Chinese, Sudanese, Egyptian, and Greek), I always felt out of place and found it very discomforting to never see social figures I could relate to. I think change in the media that progresses in diversity will lead to a healthier and more validating environment :).

What makes you special?

I’d like to think what makes me special is my academic backstory. I studied Zoology and have such a strong love for our planet and its evolution within various species. After Zoology, I studied photography and now fashion design :). My continuous love for learning is my most special feature!

I also think there is something so special about being proud of my identity as I am a queer BIPOC gender-fluid individual. It took me a lot of time to be comfortable in being a POC, so being comfortable with my racial identity and my sexual/non-gendered identity is something I find special about myself.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about change. I want to see more diversity in fashion, and I want to see fashion in more environmentally friendly aspects. When I switched my majors from science to the arts, I was determined to be a part of the change in fashion needs. I am incredibly passionate about fashion having a slower production and focusing on new and emerging designers' work. I love seeing POC designers work and truly believe we have a place in this industry.

One thing people may be surprised to find out about you:

I love dogs and animals in general more than anything in this world. The majority of my friendships have been from me meeting cute dogs and talking to their owners. I actually met my agent by crying over how cute her dog is and now I have an amazing agent/friend and am a godmother to the cutest dog on the planet :)

When you are not modeling, what do you do on your day off?

I am now a fashion designer :) when I’m not modeling I am making designs, sewing, working on my craft and scouting other models for my brand! When I have extra time, I go on walks and forage materials to create natural dyes for fun designs!
