Answers to Q&A
What inspired you to become a model?
Growing up, my dream was to live in different parts of the world and immerse myself in different cultures, so the idea of modeling was always something I had been interested in because the thought of working in fashion, playing dress up for a living, and being able to travel sounded like the perfect scenario to me. However, I was too nervous to apply to agencies and didn’t think it was a realistic dream, but lucky for me I was scouted by my now mother agent Pio Monti. I feel so lucky to have such a special relationship with my mother agent, as trust and a shared vision for long term success is so important in this industry.
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
I am a huge lover of fashion and beauty so it’s always a treat when I get styled in shoots and wear clothes I’ve always dreamed of and learn tips and tricks from talented makeup artists. What's especially inspirational to me is being included in the process of a creative vision and executing the transformation of becoming a character that's so different from myself. In doing shoots and ‘performing,’ you really get to bond with other creatives and produce something beautiful, which is both deeply fulfilling and satisfying. In making these connections, you never know who you’re going to meet and what opportunities may come with each set you enter, which really excites me and keeps me on my toes.
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
Some advice I would have for other models is to not be scared to apply to agencies like I was, you have to take charge in what you want, otherwise life will pass you by and you'll always wonder ‘what if.’ Further, you have to keep pushing and believing in yourself in the face of rejection because that’s half of the job, but you'll become a stronger person for it.
Share a fun fact about yourself!
A fun fact about me is that I’m a really good cook! Growing up I helped my mom out in the kitchen and originally wanted to be a chef. With that said, I have so much knowledge on food and culinary techniques/recipes because I was so interested in learning about it for so long, so it’s always fun to surprise people when I cook for them. It’s a great life skill that’s helped me navigate a healthy relationship with food and nourish myself in an industry that can be tough on your body.
