Answers to Q&A

Why did you want to become a model?

My initial interest in modelling started with my love for fashion and its ability to transform the way people perceived themselves, after going to school for fashion business I started to experiment with different parts of the industry and in the end took the route of modelling. I think playing the role of muse and helping bring someone’s vision to life was really appealing to me.

What makes you special?

Something that makes me special as a model is my experience as a dancer. For about 8 years I studied all styles of dance, specifically tap dancing for the full 8 years – I believe this experience has given me a unique understanding of my body as well as movement on camera.

What are you passionate about?

One of my biggest passions would definitely be writing and music. Through both of these things I have discovered my own artistic point of view and have been able to bring my own ideas to life. These have always been key components to keeping my mental health in check and over the last few years I’ve begun to share my music and writing with people all over the world.

What would you like to see changed within the fashion industry?

I would love to see more diversity in the industry that was actually genuine, although there has been huge changes and advancements in the industry around being more inclusive – so much of it feels like it is more about marketing than actually trying to influence any positive change.

If you could give an aspiring model any advice, what would it be?

As a model you are opening yourself up to receive criticism around your physical body, so for anyone aspiring to get into the industry I would advise they hold onto who they are at the core. Invest in discovering who you are as a person and what you love about yourself on the inside – see value in yourself beyond your appearance, so that you are able to digest the physical criticism in a way that does not influence your self-worth.
