Answers to Q&A
What inspired you to become a model?
As a professional procrastinator, I stumbled into modeling unexpectedly. While scrolling through Instagram instead of studying for an exam, I found an ad for an open casting call. Intrigued, I researched and prepared a model card using Canva, printed it on high-quality card stock, and went to the casting call the day after my exam.
Although I wasn't chosen, something ignited in me. I had my mother take photos of me against a white wall and sent them to nearly every agency in Montreal. To my surprise, several agencies reached out. I chose to start my career with Humankind, whose values deeply resonated with mine. This unexpected journey from procrastination to passion marked the beginning of my modeling career.
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
What excites me most about modeling is the incredible passion and dedication of everyone involved. Seeing a large production come to life and being part of the finished work is magical. The energy and enthusiasm of the team drive me to push harder and strive for excellence. I can't wait to see what the future holds in this amazing industry.
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
Your journey doesn't end with a rejection; it only begins. My first rejection led me to an agency that truly values me. Rejection is an opportunity for growth. Have fun, connect with others, and don't be shy. Say hi, make friends, and build your network. Persistence and a positive attitude are key. Your passion and willingness to learn will take you far.
Share a fun fact about yourself!
One of my favourite ice breakers is asking people to guess my ethnicity. It always leads to fun conversations, and I love the surprise when they find out I'm Malaysian.
Another fun fact is that I recently met my childhood idol, Coeur de Pirate, on my first modeling gig and we took a selfie together—a moment I'll cherish forever!
