Answers to Q&A

Why did you want to become a model?

I wasn't one of those people who always knew they wanted to model. Growing up, I was actually pretty insecure and more into sports. My childhood dream was to become an Olympic gymnast, inspired by my older sister. However, around the age of 12, I started taking acting lessons and going to auditions, even though I didn't land any roles (haha). I often got feedback that I was too tall for kids' roles but too young for older roles. That's when someone suggested I give modeling a shot. At the time, I had no clue, but looking back, it turned out to be the best decision I ever made.

What makes you special?

Describing myself as "special" feels a bit tricky; it sometimes carries a negative vibe. However, I do believe I bring a unique flavour to the modelling scene. I take pride in my distinctive look – my blonde afro is a standout feature that can go from compact to shoulder-length, and I absolutely love its versatility. Big shoutout to my fellow girls with 4c hair; it's the most versatile texture out there. My background in various sports like gymnastics, dance, track and field, and swimming has opened up opportunities for me to be part of some seriously cool shoots. Without first hand experience, I wouldn't have believed some of these sets even existed.

What are you passionate about?

I have a passion for reading, sports, and vintage shopping. For a decade, I dedicated myself to competitive gymnastics, competing at both regional and provincial levels across the States. At one point, I proudly held the rankings of 4th and 8th in Ontario. Beyond my individual pursuits, I find joy in spending time with my friends. We make it a weekly ritual to attend pilates and hot yoga classes together. Not only do we cherish each other's company, but we also find fulfilment in collectively improving ourselves through these shared activities.

Who is someone you admire and why?

I am in awe of my mother, a remarkable woman whose strength, determination, and multifaceted talents never cease to amaze me. As the CEO and owner of multiple companies, she exemplifies the epitome of hard work and dedication, navigating the complexities of the business world with grace and tenacity. Beyond her corporate prowess, she is also a gifted artist, infusing creativity into every aspect of her life. Her ability to balance the demands of entrepreneurship with the pursuit of artistic expression is truly inspiring. She is not only a successful professional but also a nurturing and loving presence in our family. My admiration for her extends beyond her achievements; it encompasses the way she carries herself with kindness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. My mother is a source of constant inspiration, and I am grateful to have such an incredible role model in my life.

If you could give an aspiring model any advice, what would it be?

Hey aspiring model, don't get caught up in comparing yourself to others in the industry. Everyone's path is different, and your time will come. Take a look at the stories of models you admire to pick up some tips along the way. Being friendly and approachable matters too – in this business, how you present yourself is key. Just stay true to yourself, be cool to people, and believe that your moment will come when it's ready. You've got what it takes!
