Answers to Q&A
Why did you want to become a model?
I actually never considered becoming a model until so many people would come up to my mom and I whenever we were out and said that I should model because of how tall I was. I was honestly such a shy girl when I was younger so I never had a single thought of having a career which requires being in front of a camera. After hearing so many comments about modeling, I still didn't comprehend the potential I had, but my mom did, and she was the one who inspired and helped me pursue a career in the industry, and I’m glad that she did! Becoming a model has helped me gain so much more confidence and has encouraged me to believe in myself.
What makes you special?
This is such a hard question for no reason. If you were to ask the old me this question, it would be simple: I’m not, but this is far from true. Individuality makes everyone special in their own way. I think the way that I carry and present myself is what makes me special. I think this is so important because small things like attitudes, habits, and mannerisms define your day to day life, so having all these positive feelings will surely help improve yourself as a person.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about self-discovery. Everybody has gone through the process of trying to figure out who they are and what they want to do with their lives to have a sense of fulfillment. Accepting yourself for who you are will help you grow in many aspects of life. For me personally, I am still in the process of finding my true self, though I have come a long way. I always struggled with caring too much about other people’s opinions about me but I finally realized that the only opinion that matters is mine.
How did you become a model?
It's a long story but I’ll keep it short! Basically, my mom saw this facebook ad for Top Model Search Canada that was taking place in Ontario and she decided to send in an application for me and next thing I know I was selected and getting ready to attend a one week long modeling “bootcamp”. During that one week, we essentially did what models did; practiced how to walk, had a couple photoshoots, learned all about the modeling industry, etc. By the end of it, we had a fashion show where so many agents from around the world attended and got to select which models they wanted to see for a call back the next day. I was shocked at how many agents chose me, but one really stuck, and that’s my mother agent Peggi! She has been with me since and I wouldn’t want it any other way! :)
If you could give an aspiring model any advice, what would it be?
Good things take time! What is meant for you will be for you so never ever doubt yourself and always keep working toward the best version of yourself. Just because you didn’t get one job doesn’t mean you won’t get the next, so believe in yourself and your bookers! And don’t let anyone look down on your aspirations. The industry is competitive and is always changing so you never know when you’ll get your big break, and when you do, be ready!!
