Answers to Q&A
Why did you want to become a model?
To be completely honest, modeling was never on my career trajectory. I had my heart set on basketball from a very young age. Don't get me wrong—I loved fashion and taking pictures, but it never really clicked to me that I could or should be a model. Unfortunately, the summer after graduating high school, I got sick with cancer and lost my hair, which later turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It changed everything for me. My friend was already in the modeling scene, and everyone around me was telling me I should really give it a try. The best thing I did was finding an agency online after numerous failed attempts to get signed, and that kickstarted my career to where it is today.
I fell in love with dressing up and telling a brand's story through their clothing. Also, mixing traveling and meeting new people, some of the things I truly enjoy, all in one has been really amazing and I love it.
What makes you special?
Having a kind heart is what I believe makes me special. My friends and family say I'm good at connecting with people from different backgrounds, enjoying insightful conversations, and finding joy in simple dialogues. While I appreciate their sweet words, I understand there might be some bias in their compliments.
With that being said for modelling I’ve been told my unique set of features and skin. They have always been at the forefront of what makes me special.
What are you passionate about?
Right now, I'm really into learning how to make music and design clothes. I've liked doing both for a while, but this year is special because I'm fully committed to getting better at them. It's super exciting to work with friends, write songs, and record music. At the same time, diving into making clothes and understanding the fashion industry is really thrilling. I'm really looking forward to this creative journey.
Who is your favourite model?
My favourite model is my friend, Mohammet Myabe. I truly appreciate his style, and what stands out to me most is his unapologetic attitude of always being his authentic self. He not only encourages others to do the same but also shares insights on skincare, health, and sends out positive energy to his followers. It's these qualities that I believe have propelled him to where he is today, and I really admire that about him.
If you could give an aspiring model any advice, what would it be?
Don’t take things personally!! This is a very competitive industry and it’s based a lot on your physical appearance. Don’t let comments on your body change your view of yourself! Your self esteem and your confidence are your super power. Just because you didn’t have the look for a particular job doesn’t mean that you aren’t exactly what they’re looking for for the next project.
