Answers to Q&A
What inspired you to become a model?
When I was younger, my best friend and I liked organizing photoshoots where we would find cool spots in our neighbourhood to take pictures with her grandfather’s camera. It was our favourite activity. I didn’t really have an interest in the fashion industry until I was about 16 years old when a few of my friends told me I should give modeling a try. I took a few pictures in bad lighting and applied to only one agency, thinking, “Oh well, I gave it a try.” After that, in the summer of 2023, I got my wisdom teeth removed (bear with me, it’s not unrelated). As I was walking home from the dentist, with my mouth frozen and cotton pads where my teeth used to be, I was scouted by my mother agency. The conversation was so funny, I was trying to explain why I couldn’t speak properly. Sean invited me to the model search they were hosting two days later in Montreal, and I spent the next two days looking up “tips to reduce wisdom teeth swelling.” I signed with them, and this is how my journey in modeling started!
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
I like how modeling gets me out of my comfort zone. I am usually pretty shy but still love to meet new people and work with a team. I enjoy how I can feel like a different person when I’m in front of the camera, I would love to do more shoots with crazy poses or outfits!
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
Think about key pointers or lessons you’ve learned along your journey. I would say if you want to get into modeling, don’t wait to be scouted. I don’t know why I was scared of applying to many agencies at once, I should have done that the first time around instead of waiting to be scouted. It was probably because of the fear of rejection, which you must get over if you want to model! I think you should always focus on the opportunities you get, instead of overthinking about the ones you didn’t get.
