Answers to Q&A
Why did you want to become a model?
I wanted to be a model, because I always wanted something bigger for myself. Growing up in downtown Toronto with my mom, we didn’t always have very much. But regardless, I always felt this incredible drive within me to be better.
What makes you special?
I believe what makes me special is my outlook on everything in life, I always strive to be better than I was the last day, and I always try to find the brighter side of things, no matter how grim and dark the situation might seem.
What are you passionate about?
I find, I’m very passionate about graffiti and art. I’ve always had a profound love for graffiti since I was a little kid. I have a deep appreciation for the technique and work that goes into some of it. I know a lot of people think of it simply as vandalism or destruction of property, but I like to see it also as a way to show life within a city. It’s a way for people to show their mark, that they otherwise might not have been able to. Most importantly, I believe it’s how people speak about certain issues, for some people, graffiti gives a voice.
how did you become a model?
I was scouted completely by chance. I was still in high school, finishing up my last semester before I graduated. One day I had made plans with my friend to go hangout after school, but while I was in art class, the girl sitting next to me, asked if I could help buy something for her mom at the mall. I replied “Yeah for sure” and told my friend I’d meet him a little later. What I absolutely didn’t see happening that day, was right after I was making some silly joke about not being able to climb up the steps to reach the next floor, my future agent Sean, right at the top steps, giving me his card and telling me I could be a model. It was absolutely incredible experience and I am forever grateful for that day.
If you could give an aspiring model any advice, what would it be?
I tell any aspiring models I know, to just keep trying. The world of modelling, comes with a lot of rejection. As hard as that can be sometimes, and I’ve absolutely felt that too, It’s vitally important to just keep trying and never give up on yourself. Some agencies or clients might not want your look right now, but they might want it somewhere else down the line. So always stay true to who you are, be kind, and never give up on your ambitions!
