Answers to Q&A
What inspired you to become a model?
I started modelling almost unintentionally. One of my very close friends is a stylist (Boston Bachinksi from Vancouver, BC). When she was starting out last year, she would put together these really beautiful, creative, and unique outfits for fun, and would ask me to model them for her. I would always say yes, without missing a beat, and we’d do these super fun creative shoots in her home. It fulfilled a previously unexplored interest of being in front of the camera, and was my first time experiencing modelling as a creative, collaborative job. It was also a catalyst in my journey of self-love; the realization that I had what it took to be a model. I was immediately hooked. We would post photos from those shoots on Instagram, which lead to me getting scouted by Inter Agency in early 2024.
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
I get particularly excited about weird, conceptual shoots and jobs. As an artist myself, I am drawn to the sometimes abstract works of David Lynch, Julie Taymor, and Cindy Sherman. If I can do all I can to contribute to the execution of an artist's vision, then I feel like I am doing my job.
Can you share with us some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
I would say to fully believe in yourself. At the end of the day, as cliche as it sounds, you have to be your own biggest supporter and advocate. Also, lean into what makes you unique, and be proud of it!
Share a fun fact about yourself!
I used to do improv comedy, and it was my dream to become a comedian. I stopped about a year ago, but I still have massive respect for improvisors; it is an incredibly difficult and impressive art form that I wish got more recognition and praise!
