Answers to Q&A
Why did you want to become a model?
There are many reasons why I wanted to become a model. However, the first time I knew I wanted to become a model was when I was walking through a mall when I was about ten years old. Me and my mom and my sister came across this campaign, and on a big poster I saw this beautiful brown girl; a part of me connected with her because I saw myself in her. This was one of the first times I saw myself in a form of media and a spark started in me. I would love to be that person for new models to come, and I love to inspire other mixed girls like me.
What makes you special?
I think something that makes me special is my ability to make others laugh. I think that laugher is the best cure to anything and everything because it makes people happy, and I love making others genuinely happy. So, in attempt to do my very best at making those I care for happy, I have learned to develop a pretty good sense of humour (if I do say so myself). To this day it has never failed me and hopefully never will. (Thank you to my family who has raised me to have this specialty and never fails to make myself laugh either).
What are you passionate about?
I am super passionate about my love for dance. I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember, and nothing makes me feel more at home and where I belong. I love being able to express myself through dance and be able to share a story when I perform. Also, being able to bond with the people I have bonded with through dance is something I know I will cherish for life. I have made some of my best friends, and favourite memories from dance and it’s something I can’t imagine my life without it.
One thing people may be surprised to find out about you.
I love the water and the beach. I just think that everything about nature is so cool and calming but my very favourite place is the beach. I love swimming and paddle boarding and just being by the water. During covid one of my top memories was biking down to the community rock garden on my zoom call breaks, and just being by the water made me feel so comforted. I love being in the water with my friends (playing mermaids of course) and beach days with my family.
Your most embarrassing moment.
I believe that every person cannot have just one embarrassing moment. I personally have embarrassing moments on the daily. For example, I always end up waving at people who are waving at the person behind me. Or when my stomach starts making noises in the middle of a big test, or when I trip over my own feet all… the… time… (which is odd because I’m a dancer). But probably one of the most embarrassing things that could ever happen to me is at work. I am naturally a very clumsy person, so me working in the restaurant department may not have been the best idea. I am always tripping over little things, or dropping things, or spilling drinks. And it always happens to be when I am helping someone I know…
