Answers to Q&A
What inspired you to become a model?
I was inspired by Kendall Jenner. When I was 15 years my friends used to tell me you look like a model because of my height and my size, so I started following fashion models especially those that have made it in the fashion industry. Kendall Jenner really caught my eye because at a young age she was one of the top models in the model. In my mind I was like if she made it at that age, I can also be like her too.
I continued to follow the fashion industry until one day Top Model Uganda came to my country. Even though it was a competition and I was like let me give it a try. By that time I was 18 years old, but I did what I could to win the competition. I was actually the youngest in the competition. Winning Top Model Uganda gave me hope that I can become the next top model in the world.
When I came to Canada, I was at my aunt’s friends party and a fellow model spotted me. After doing my research, I met with many agencies in Toronto. When I met Christopher (Massardo), he told me more about his agency and I felt that this is the right agency I am supposed to trust with my career. That’s how I ended up being signed by Massardo Management.
What are you most excited about when it comes to modeling?
Runways. I love being the main character. The confidence I get on a runway when people are sitting down watching me hit the runway makes me feel loved and comfortable, I feel like, “Yes I am the reason why people are gathering to watch”. I feel over loved.
I also love being in front of the camera for photoshoots and commercials because I like knowing that someone is going to watch me on the television or see me on a billboard somewhere. This comes from the fact that I love being the “main character“.
Can you share some advice you have for models wanting to get into the industry?
Self confidence is very key to becoming a successful model. Believe in yourself and be like, "I know I will make it!" because if you don’t believe in yourself do you think others will believe in you?
Also, models have to set a goal and have role models because in modeling you must have someone that really inspires you to reach the person you want to be in the future. Learn how to use social media as a model too because everything in the fashion industry goes with media.
Lastly, RESPECT is important. Always learn to respect others in the fashion industry.
Share a fun fact about yourself!
I act very quiet in front of people, but I’m actually very talkative.
